"Housekeeping and Laundries are my Passion"
Few people have the depth and breadth of knowledge and experience that I do in hotel Housekeeping and Laundry operations. Beginning in 1980, and continuing for over 37, years, I held leadership roles in hotels and above property operations at ITT Sheraton Hotels and Resorts, Lowes Hotels and Starwood Hotels and Resorts. I spent a majority of that time, 35 years, working in housekeeping and laundry areas.
For almost 20 years I led housekeeping and laundry teams at hotels that included urban, suburban, luxury resort and large convention hotels, in both Union and non-Union environments. I continually strived and was successful at improving operating metrics, not only financially, but from a guest and associate satisfaction perspective as well.
For over 17, years I worked in an above property operations role at Starwood Hotels and Resorts, supporting hotel leaders, hotel owners, developers and internal corporate teams. Being the housekeeping subject matter expert at Starwood Hotels and Resorts allowed me to influence various internal teams helping them understand the implications their proposals would have on hotels related to operating policies and procedures, standards and brand programs. During this period I also worked with developers, design groups and coordinated the activities of housekeeping and laundry departments to bring over 90, new build or transitioning hotels to life as Starwood-branded Hotels and Resorts.
At Starwood Hotels and Resorts, I was also the Executive Producer of Rooms University and the Master Trainer for The ABC's of Housekeeping program. Rooms University is an industry-leading comprehensive training program that brings Rooms Leaders together for four-days of intensive learning and collaboration.
